New Jersey Family Leave Insurance (NJFLI)

This law which took effect on July 1, 2009 extends the state’s existing Temporary Disability Insurance program to provide paid insurance benefits to New Jersey workers who take time off to care for newborn and newly adopted children, or sick family members. Claims may be filed for 6 consecutive weeks, intermittent weeks, or 42 intermittent days during a 12 month period beginning with the first date of the claim.
