OUR PROGRAM FEATURES
Our 6-month 180-hour  non-credit certificate program will deliver Health Information Technology (HIT) training in each of the following roles and competencies in the Electronic Healthcare Information Technology industry:  Practice Workflow  & Information Management Redesign Specialist; Clinician/ Practitioner Consultant; Implementation Support Specialist; Implementation Manager; Technical/Software Support Staff;  and Trainer.
NO TUITION COST
Tuition and books are provided at no cost to the participant through funding from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services
PROGRAM GOAL
To assist the federal government’s nationwide healthcare initiatives by training healthcare professionals in implementing the development and competent use of our nation’s electronic medical record information system. ECC is offering this program in conjunction with the Community College HITECH Consortium led by Tidewater Community College (Norfolk, Va.)
CERTIFICATION UPON COMPLETION OF PROGRAM
The certificate you gain upon completion of the program will be valued across the country.

CAREER BUILDING OPPORTUNITY
The program is designed to prepare employed, unemployed healthcare professionals, and dislocated employees seeking retraining, and those seeking a career in healthcare for a broad spectrum of Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) occupations that are fast growing and high paying.

GRANT INITIATIVE
The program is made possible by the Health Information Technology (HIT) grant that ECC was recently awarded.  The grant is an initiative under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009, funded by the Office of the National Coordinator, Department of Health and Human Services, Grant Number 90CC00801/10.  The purpose of the grant is to prepare program participants in the Health Information Technology field.
